“Why Do Bad Things Happen to Good People” is a book written by David Arnold. He is trying to answer this question in a rather optimistic way. This is something that all of us think about occasionally. The author is trying to prove that God is actually taking good care of us, even in moments we find difficult. The idea is great, actually.
When you ask the question: “why do bad things happen to good people?” you will immediately start asking new questions, like what are bad things? Who are those good people? Are there any good people? Are there any bad things? We find the last question crucial in everyone’s life. In fact, it is not the question but the answer that is important here. As soon as you find the answer to this question, everything will be much easier to understand, change or accept.
Are There Any Bad Things?
If you read the book, you will start thinking differently. If you really put your mind to it, you will easily realize that there are not bad things in anyone’s life. Things just look bad to you. That doesn’t necessarily make them bad; they are only bad to you! That is where you should stop for a moment. Everything that happens to you has its own cause and a message for you. Sometimes we are just too overwhelmed and/or disappointed, so we cannot really understand the message – but it is there, right in front of you. People often get panicked and they do not have enough self-control to stop and think. It seems like people do not analyze things as they used to. Perhaps our lifestyles are just too “fast and furious”, so we feel as if we’re wasting our time on thinking. Thinking about your own life is never a waste of time. In fact, that is the most important thing for you. Your life is nothing without your psychical presence – think about it.
Sometimes we all feel like we don’t deserve something that is happening to us. Try to look at it from a different point of view. Perhaps life is simply trying to tell you something or teach you some lessons. Every disappointment, no matter how hard it seems to be, has its own purpose. It is not just one bad event in your life. It is a valuable lesson for you. Use it and learn from it. You may have the feeling that your own life is torturing you. Remember that time when you were a kid? You used to believe that your parents were torturing you when they wanted you to do things you didn’t feel like doing. But you had to these things because that was good for you. The same is with life. It seems like it is torturing you, but your own life is just trying to make you a better and stronger person. Sometimes you may experience a “bad thing”, but as soon as you learn something from it and get over it, you will see that it is not bad at all. You will definitely feel like a winner. Remember, there are no bad things. There are only lessons.
