Here are some interesting facts about Hawaii. This state is a synonym for natural beauty and holidays. It consists of 8 larger islands (together, they cover the area of some 6,500 square miles).

The capital of the Hawaii is Honolulu. Hawaii is actually the only U.S. state that is not physically situated in North America.

Hawaii area keeps growing because of volcanic activity within this area. Hawaii climate is tropical, but humidity and air temperature are not extreme like in other tropical areas.  In 1992, there was a horrible hurricane in Hawaii, and it resulted in great damage.

Hawaiians managed to keep their sense of natural beauty and to preserve the nature, in despite of the fact that Hawaiian industry is highly developed.

Hiram Bingham, the archaeologist who discovered Machu Pichu in 1911, was Hawaiian. Duke Paoa Kahinu Mokoe Hulikohola Kahanamoku, who was among the best U.S. athletes, was also born in Hawaii and died there.

Hawaii is famous for its beauty and flowers. Hawaiian flora is rich and there are numerous exotic species. Some rare plants can be found there, too. Hawaii people like the yellow hibiscus – it is a state symbol.

One of the world’s most beautiful places is located in Hawaii. It is the Pearl of the Pacific.One of the most popular sports in Hawaii is – surfing. They really love surfing and it is one of the oldest sports there. Many other countries have accepted surfing as a relaxing and funny sport, but Hawaii seems to be the place of its origin.

In 1795, all Hawaiian Islands were unified by King Kamehameha. He was one of the greatest men in the history of this state.

There were two Hawaiian queens, in 1823 (Kaahumanu) an in 1891 (Liliuokalani).

There are only twelve letters in Hawaiian alphabet.

The word “aloha” has at least four meanings; it can mean “love”, “welcome”, “good-bye” and “friendship”.

According to some sources, Jack Johnson comes from Hawaii, so as Bette Midler (we really didn’t know this information), Tia Carrera, Brooke Mahealani Lee, and many other famous people.
