How to Stop Being Shy and Quiet

This article is for all those who believe that they have a problem and wondering how to stop being shy and quiet. This may even sound funny, but the truth is that it’s not funny at all! Being shy and quiet may spoil your social interactions with other people, ruin your chances to meet someone, destroy your opportunity to make a close social intercourse with someone you really like and finally – you may end up lonely because of your inability to communicate.

If you think that you are simply born shy – you are wrong! None of us is totally shy and quiet.   All of us have our quiet moments, depending on the situation we are in. If you find yourself in a company that you don’t really like, you may get real quiet and with no need to talk a lot. If you are bored, you may also seem distant and shy. But this is quite normal. No one should be expected to be interesting and funny all the time. So try to avoid people that you do not like. If you do not feel comfortable with someone, do not waste your time on trying to talk.

If you have problems with making contacts and starting conversation with people you really like, we will try to give you some advice, but the final result will depend on you only. First, try to relax. Most people remain quiet because they are too critical about themselves. They are afraid they will say something wrong. Do not think about it. Just try to relax and do not question yourself. Say whatever is on your mind. It is not easy, but you have nothing to lose! You can only lose if you miss your chance to speak out! Keep in mind that nothing bad will happen if you say something. The most important thing is to feel good about yourself. You need to accept yourself just the way you are. When you do that, you will see that you are a great person worth of attention. You should not force yourself to talk to anyone. Sometimes it is even better not to say anything. But this refers only to those situations when you really do not like someone. However, if you really like someone, there is no reason why you shouldn’t just be yourself. Remember that you have nothing to lose.

If you find yourself in a big company and there are many people around, you may also feel shy. Stop for a moment and observe people around you. You will see that most of them are probably quite relaxed and when you see them chatting and laughing, it will be easier for you to relax. If you want to talk to someone alone, but do not know how to say what you need to say, take a deep breath and focus on your point. That way you will not get confused or forget what you want to say. Think of the final result and the goal of your conversation. When you finally say what you want to say, you will fell quite proud of yourself and you will start to love this feeling! If you try, you will see that it’s not so hard to do!
