Vertigo can be caused by drinking too much alcohol. Alcohol affects human body in many negative ways. Vertigo is just one of the conditions that can be caused or triggered by excessive consumption of alcohol.
There are also certain medications that can cause vertigo. Migraines can also lead to vertigo; however, migraine-caused vertigo is a temporary condition (in most of the cases).
Head injuries can also cause vertigo, so as bacterial infections, cold and severe flu.
What are the symptoms of vertigo? Speaking difficulties, problems with vision (blurred vision), unconsciousness, nausea, vomiting and problems with hearing – are all the symptoms that can occur in people with vertigo. These symptoms are not permanent. However, some of the symptoms (like disorders of central nervous system) can be permanent.
How Long Does Vertigo Last?
There are several answers to this question. This period is different from person to person and depends on the type of vertigo as well. In some people, vertigo lasts for several seconds; in others, it can last considerably longer. In some patients, vertigo keeps coming back, which makes a serious problem to those people, as well as to their families.
As we said, vertigo is a condition that comes and goes. However, there are cases of constant vertigo. People who have constant vertigo problems must seek medical help as soon as possible.
There are things you should not do if you have vertigo. You should avoid artificial sweeteners, especially aspartame. Chocolate and coffee are not recommended for people with vertigo. Of course, there is no need to say that alcohol is strictly forbidden for people who have vertigo problems.
