Common Side Effects of Geodon
Geodon has undergone extensive clinical tests.
Geodon side effects are studied by comparing two groups of people, one taking the medicine and the other one not taking the medicine.
The side effects that occurred during these tests were drowsiness, dizziness, headache, nausea, indigestion or heartburn, constipation, weight gain, and respiratory tract infections.
Other common side effects were: vision problems, vomiting, diarrhea, weakness, dry mouth, accidental injury, cough, runny nose, sore throat, increased salivation, chest pain, increased heart rate, muscle pain, loss of appetite, fungal infections, difficulty in swallowing, and speech problems.
Apart from these, there are some side effects of Geodon which should be reported to your physician. These are: the signs of diabetes, like increased thirst, increased frequency of urination, high blood sugar, and increased appetite. Also, sudden or large weight gain, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, hypertension, extreme nervousness, restlessness, and dizziness while coming to a standing position from sitting or lying-down position may also occur.
Abnormal muscle movements are also results of Geodon using; this may become permanent, if the medicine is not stopped immediately.
Other side effects are: symptoms of neuroleptic malignant syndrome (NMS), like, high fever, confusion, stiff muscles, irregular pulse, increased heart-beat (tachycardia), arrhythmias, changing blood pressure and sweating.
Allergic reactions, like unexplained rashes and swelling, itching, hives, wheezing, and difficulty in swallowing and breathing, may also occur as side effects of Geodon.
The Geodon side effects that occur rarely are: less active or overactive thyroid, pneumonia, anemia, bleeding nose, dry eyes, eczema, tinnitus (ringing in the ears), erectile dysfunction, problem in achieving orgasm, abnormal ejaculation, and gout. These side effects are so rare, that it is hard to say if they occur due to Geodon.
Geodon side effects may or may not occur. Unfortunately, it is not possible to predict Geodon side effects. Therefore, it is necessary for you to make your physician aware of any abnormal changes regarding your health during the treatment, so that he can diagnose whether it is because of Geodon or not, and start treating the problem in time.
