You have probably heard about AIM Express, but what is it really and what can you do with it? This is an AIM web version that enables you to log into AIM with no need to download anything. The abbreviation AIM stands for AOL Instant Messenger. This is a program using protocols called OSCAR and TOC that enable users to chat.
AIM Express was launched in 1997. It can be used in iPhone OS, Mac OS, Android OS, Windows Mobile, BlackBerry OS and Microsoft Windows. The largest number of messages are sent through AIM Express in the United States. Before AIM, there was so called “Buddy List”. It was used just by people who worked for this company. It was offered to other AOL users in 1996.
When it comes to people who are not subscribed to AOL, AIM became available for use by the beginning of 1997.
By using AIM Express, you can chat in real time, exchange instant messages or exchange several types of files with your buddies. The later version enables you to play games and have fun together with your buddies and to store your list of contacts on its server. There are as many as two hundred of contacts that can be stored this way.
There are several versions of AIM. Each one is more advanced than the previous and brings new features that allow users to have even more fun but to communicate more efficiently as well. The AIM Express version that came in 2006 has brought even more new features. In addition to that, it provides an option of sending messages to your buddies who are not online at the given moment. If you use it on your mobile, you will notice some improvements. If you use Facebook, then the good news is that you can log into AIM with your Facebook username and password.
