Adderall side effects can sometimes occur in patients who use this drug. Adderall is a combination of amphetamine and dextroamphetamine, and produces some side effects that are common with these two drugs, but many people tolerate the medicine well; the side effects rarely occur and can be treated easily.

This article provides the information about the possible Adderall side effects, but you can get more detailed information by talking to your physician.

Common Side Effects of Adderall

In the extensive clinical trails done with Adderall, groups of people taking the medicine were compared to those who weren’t taking it. Based on this comparison, commonly occurred side effects of Adderall turned out to be: appetite loss leading to weight loss, insomnia (lack of sleep), dry mouth, increased blood pressure in form of severe headache, temporary hypertension, stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, stomach disturbance, emotional alterations, dizziness, weakness, diarrhea, tachycardia (increased heart rate), pounding or irregular heartbeat, fever, heartburn, and infection, including urinary tract infection.
One of the possible Adderall side effects is a temporary deceleration of growth in children. It is usually minimal i.e. less than an inch or two pounds.

But there are some side effects of Adderall which you should not ignore. These are: suicidal thoughts, chest tightness, chest pain, palpitations, confusion, shortness of breath, over-aggressive or strange behavior, depression, hallucinations, fainting, seizures, agitation, uncontrolled movements of head, mouth, neck, arms, or legs (known as tics), or allergic symptoms like unexplained rashes and hives.

Other side effects are light-headedness, trouble in concentrating, blurred vision, numbness, or tremor, restlessness, or muscle twitches.

Adderall has a strong effect of increasing blood pressure; therefore, it  is as risky as the medicines used in the treatment of ADHD (for which it is used); there is a risk of heart attack, stroke and sudden death. It also carries the same risk of seizures in individuals with the history of seizures.

If allergic reactions like hives, swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat, and difficulty in breathing occur, medical help should be sought immediately.

Rare Side Effects Adderall

Rarely occurring side effects of Adderall are fatigue, shakiness, constipation, sweating, reduced libido, and erectile dysfunction or impotence. Remarkable hair-loss also occurs with this medicine, though it is also a rare side effect.
These side effects are so rare that it is difficult to tell definitely if they occur due to Adderall or otherwise.
