925 area code is a telephone code used in East Bay (Alameda) and California northern area (Contra Costa). Originally, 925 area code was a part of other area code, 415, that was put into service in 1947. 415 area code was among the first California codes in this period and it was used in central parts of state of California. In 1991, another area code was made in order to be used in the Oakland Metropolitan Statistical Area. This was 510 area code. In 1998, area code 510 was split to cover the East Bay Hills border and 925 area code was put into service. This was inevitable, since there was a great need for new numbers in California. Today it covers nearly entire Contra Costa County and Alameda County eastern parts.
